University of Maryland, Baltimore County, Korean instructor needed
The Department of Modern Languages, Linguistics, and Intercultural Communication at University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) is seeking a part-time adjunct instructor position in Korean language, starting Spring 2018. (The spring semester starts on January 29th, 2018). This position is renewable based on performance. The primary teaching responsibility will be to teach two 4-credit elementary/intermediate courses (8 credits a semester).
The additional responsibility will be to teach three to four drill sections (50 minutes a week for each section), with extra payments on an hourly basis in addition to the stipend for the two regular courses. Responsibilities - Instructs students in beginning and intermediate level Korean courses
- Prepares own syllabi, lesson plans, homework, and tests, while working with the Korean coordinator on curriculum and assessment requirements - Maintains and submits accurate and timely student performance records - Maintains regular office hours Desirable candidates have an MA degree in Korean language pedagogy/applied linguistics or closely related field, experience teaching college-level Korean, and native or near native proficiency in Korean and English.
